So as the first signs of spring begin to emerge, Juan carlos gently stokes his torches, pumps up his tires and prepares to bless the good people of Brexitlandia... Its a new dawn of understanding, cooperation and love as he prepares to bring the good people of the uk together in a show of kindness, unity and bonding... oh and a large dose of silliness! Big events this year include Edinburgh festival in August and celebrating 250 years of circus with the biggest street festival in the Midlands, Feste in September. Ole amigos!!!

After a summer of compering the Cathedral Quarter Saturday Circus event in Derbys market square monthly over the summer, I have been asked to host the performances at Derbys flagship street theatre festival Feste on the Friday night. I will be playing the Ringmaster extraordinaire with my own podium and a chance to be master of ceremonies for the whole evening. Feels like a thoroughly exciting event and can't wait to do it.
Have also had a great run as the lead act for Changofuego and Friends on CQ Saturday in the Market square second Saturday in Derby's market square. Only two more to go but they have been great so far. What a great event. ladt night I performed in my capacity as a fire performer mainly at an amazing 100 year anniversary of the cub scouts. The crowd was impressive with around 500 people attending and all totally got into the Juan Carlos vibe. I performed a selection of classic fire eater and fire juggler tricks culminating in the Fire Juggler on a unicycle about to rally hurrt himself. All in all great fun. Thaks again Dronfield Cub scouts.
Last weekend was the gala night that I mentioned in another postwww.derbytelegraph.co.uk/event/limelight-grand-charity-gala/event-29803189-detail/event.html
The event was a huge success. The house was about 3/4s full and what a great thing to be able to have a huge auditorium to perform to. All in all it went superbly and the response was incredible. Looking forward toy next variety performance; shame there aren't more of them around. What a lot of fun.. Etwall cricket club put on such a show last night and as a performer i was soon looked after.. Had my own power supply dug into the ground to avoid trip hazard, lovely changing room for me to meditate in and get all centred and zen before the show and a great crowd of 2/300 and the crowning glory of a cold and clear windless night which is an absolute joy to perform in. Subsequently I felt i delivered a pretty faultless show. Obviously there are always places to improve but all the skills went 100% to plan. I put that down to meditation. Try it1 it'll change your life. Now time to plan for the gala night tomorrow.
Etwall cricket club in Derbyshire holds a fundraiser once a year so tonight little do they know that Jan Carlos has devised a special ritual dance for them to participate in to assure a fine season next year. Solid forward defence moves and great catches will be flow from their hand with ease! Loved devising the little routine to assure that the spell works perfectly.. Will the elements be with us. We'll see what the gods have in store.
Excited to be part of Derby's Got talent on Sunday night. All the publicity is out www.derbytheatre.co.uk/limelight-grand-charity-gala It's going to be great. Come on down!
Would the world be interested in the musings of a somewhat deluded yet optimistic fire performer trying tho persuade the world to be less deluded and more optimistic?... This is the premise of a new venture that Juan Carlos is undertaking to make a movie of him making a movie to get himself worldwide coverage and push the Juanca brand out into cyberspace. Working with a brilliant film company in the East Midlands, the initial pieces to camera have been a lot of fun and are turning out to be be pretty pant-wittingly funny( for me anyway) with some hard-to-deliver ludicrous lines . I now understand what 'corpsing' is all about and how tricky it actually can be to deliver ridiculous lines!! Watch this space...
So.. love this time of year as the dews roll in and the fires are lit so aptly it's a time that ChangoFuego gets pretty busy. This year the addition to the set is a new LED diabolo routine and is looking great in the pitch black. Another exciting event on the horizon is a charity gala night that I've been selected for being held at Derby Theatre. This is going to be rather exciting as it means that I'll be on stage performing to an auditorium of 500 people. A truly captive audience! Its being held on Sunday the 6th November so if you can spare the pennies to help raise money for Children in care and Derby's PLus One scheme, it's going to be a great night. (includes nibbles and fizz!)
So Folks if you are looking for some entertainment for your festival, from the way that my last show went down at Music in the Yard festival in Leicestershire, I would sincerely recommend myself! Did a night time show after having down two daytime shows in Derby and so was really warmed up. I've introduced a new food sharing element to the show and a little liquorice and marshmallow for the grown ups has seemed to give the bonding ritual way more potency especially in the new somewhat divisive post brexit world we find ourselves in now!
