Alongside my show, another great way to bring people together in a communal and fun way is through a circus skills day or workshop. The workshops I deliver around the country, teach circus skills to anyone, aged 4 and above, and are a wonderful way of passing my passion on to the next generation. For those slightly longer in the tooth, they help to collectively bring people together. As a result, this works well as a team building exercise bringing together work colleagues or team mates. The upshot is circus is a great way to really challenge oneself, have a load of fun whilst discovering something completely new. Benefits include:
improved co-ordination
inspire kids and adults to be more physical
encourage concentration and patience
lead to a wonderful sense of achievement
bring disparate groups or teams together
create a great sense of shared experience
Workshop skills include:
Ball juggling
Plate spinning
Diabolo
Devil stick
Balancing balloons / feathers on their hands
Stilts
Poi
Workshops costs start from £150 for 120 mins depending on the situation. The schools programme that I run, strongly reflects current Ofsted metrics regarding resilience, perseverance, team work and creative thinking. Here I work across either all key stages in a day or just a single Key stage culminating in a show / assembly for parents and /or the rest of the school. This latter option starts at an all-in cost of £370. With safety and the participants security being paramount, I have a Fully enhanced DBS alongside Safeguarding Young People and Child Protection in Education qualifications. (Awarded by Educare).
